Fundamental Equations of fluid motion; Potential flows; Flow past a body; Viscosity; Instabilities; Turbulence; Shocks; Dispersive Waves; Modern applications to soft condensed matter and cosmology.

Prerequisites

Bachelor in Physics

Programme form

Interactive course based on a blend of lectures, independent studies and student presentation of assigned reading material.

Required literature

Reading material assigned by the lecturer as the course progresses. Recommended textbook : Physical fluid dynamics by D.J. Tritton, Oxford University Press, 1988.

Form of examination

The ECTS points are given after sufficiently active participation in the course and student presentations. There is no separate exam.
