The research programme of the group comprises the following topics.

- structure and mechanism of oxidoreductases
- single molecule studies of oxidoreductases
- design of in vivo redox probes
- biosensor construction and development
The techniques that are in common use in the group comprise state of the art EPR, NMR and fluorescence spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, protein film voltammetry, single molecule techniques like FCS, FLIM and confocal laser fluorescence spectroscopy, protein chemical techniques and genetic techniques (site-directed mutagenesis).
